Five Frames: Fields of Sun
To me, there are few things more optimistic, more hopeful, than sunflowers. I love the way the large flower heads, held up by their sturdy stalks, are a lessons in attitude. Strength. Resilience.
Turn your face to the sun, they say, and you shall grow tall. Turn toward the light, and let the shadows fall behind. And when the light begins to fade and the head a bit too heavy to bear, it’s okay to droop a bit, even fall. A jolt of sun and water may again provide strength—even if briefly. And when the time has come, surrender.
