Five Frames: Shades of Sun(flowers)
In another post, I shared five frames from a spontaneous afternoon outing in August to a farm in New Hampshire. For just a few days each summer, the farm’s sunflowers—which are harvested each fall for use in culinary oils—are in full bloom. Despite living just 40 minutes from the farm, I had never been. But when I noticed the dates of the festival and had a free afternoon, I jumped at the chance for a drive and a few hours in the fields with my cameras. I brought with me my Fuji X100V and my Olympus Om-1n film camera, loaded with Ilford HP5+, a 400-speed film. And while I love the way color images provide those pops of color and contrast, I also fell in love with a few of my monochromatic captures.
